Greetings from SCBWI Australia.
It's great to discover your lovely work and see your latest tear sheet. Good luck with sending it out - and the grant application.
At one of our conferences, a US art director said she likes to receive a post card of a piece of new work every 3 or 4 months. Those that are liked get pinned to a large board in the office, to be matched with a suitable text when the opportunity arises. So maybe a tear sheet and a post card is a good idea, as sheets may be too large for the board ...not that I have seen it.

I totally agree with you on the bicycle tires (but I like the bicycle itself) and the character acting. What may be fun is to make the bicycle smaller to emphasize the size of the bear and help exaggerate his pose of the bear on said bike. Also, the standard go to of a scarf flapping in the wind would help show speed.

Put your iphone in a bag of raw rice and leave it overnight. It works. I dropped mine in the pool this summer and the rice saved it. Of course if it's been wet for hours this might not work, but it's worth a try. So sorry that you lost your work. I have done the same thing and it does just make you sick. :( Its a wonderful illustration and I'm sure that the next rendition will be even better than the first.

Aja, I love your illustrations! Have you ever considered selling digital images of your work for card makers? There are several illustrators who do, and find it very profitable. Mo Manning of Mo's Digital Pencil has been doing it for about three years and is wildly successful. Check out her store!
